Nowadays, the road network of both Kypseli and Athens in general is designed to serve mostly the vehicles. Pedestrians, cyclists and people with disabilities are almost completely neglected. The latter have been facing the biggest issues because the road network lacks the proper infrastructure to serve them, such as adequate crosswalks. Known for being a very densely populated area without a sufficient public transportation system, Kypseli is a neighborhood filled to capacity with vehicles. As a result, the area is considered to have high atmospheric pollution levels and the road regulations are not always followed. The sidewalks are considered to be quite dangerous due to the height difference with the road surface and due to the fact that vehicles park on both sides of the road axis, sometimes on illegal spots such as walkways, building entrances etc. In addition, the size proportions between the sidewalks and the road surfaces is unjustified and this causes daily problems for the city and its inhabitants. The fact that roadwork maintenance occurs rarely only worsens the situation.
