︎Greenscapes︎
Kypseli is admittedly one of the areas with the lowest proportions of green per habitant. In order to help Kypseli bring out its full potential, we have conducted a research about the flora of Attica region and the Mediterranean climate in general. We have listed 1326 trees in the area of Kypseli, with the most common being mulberry trees, acacia, eucalyptus and pine trees. The variation of greenery is dependent on the location of the roads and the width of the sidewalks, some of which don’t have any trees at all. The lack of plantation in combination with the fact that there is an excessive number of vehicles in the area lead to the conclusion that the air is of very poor quality. On the other hand, Fokionos Negri street, the beating heart of Kypseli, is a pedestrianized axis that appears to be a green oasis in the middle of a landscape that is dominated by the polykatoikia building type. Pedion tou Areos and Elikonos hill are the only green zones within close distance of Fokionos Negri.
